Christmas Lights in the Triangle

If you're like me you've been looking forward to the holiday season since, well, November 1st. I just love the magic of Christmas and the extra boost of serotonin the season brings! One of my favorite activities to do once that Thanksgiving turkey is carved is to drive around and look at Christmas lights!


There are tons of options in the area for viewing Christmas lights. So many, that it can be a little overwhelming. I have researched and narrowed down options in each direction so that you can find the best options in your area!




North


Hill Ridge Farms


Located in Youngsville, Hill Ridge Farms is home to the Festival of Lights. You can enjoy millions of lights from the comfort of your car in this drive through light show! This one does cost $20 per car, but offers over a mile of lights.


The Festival of Lights begins November 25th and runs through January 2nd. It is open from 5 PM to 10:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to attend on non-peak nights in order to ensure their spot in line. They offer a list of peak dates on their website.

South


Dix Park Nights of Lights


Located near NC State University, Dix Park hosts a drive through light show sponsored by WRAL and the City of Raleigh. Along with the 1.3 miles of light displays, the park is also adorned with local art and illuminated trees. They even have a couple of evenings where you can bike the festive trails!


The event costs $20 per vehicle and tickets can be purchased online here. The event begins November 26th and lasts until December 24th.

East


Meadow Lights


This family owned and operated business started over 40 years ago and boasts the largest and oldest light show in Eastern NC. They operate lights on over 30 acres of land, 10 of which can be viewed by train!


The event is free to view from the Country Store, but to hop aboard the train will cost you $3.00. Monday through Thursday lights start at 5:00 PM and go until 10:00 PM. Thursday through Sunday closing time is extended to 11:00 PM.


The lights started November 19 and they will end December 31st.

West


Mangum Family Christmas Lights


Located in Hillsborough, this light show boasts some of the brightest lights in the state. The show's music is synchronized to 90.3 FM for a complete experience!


This year the show will run from November 22 until December 31.


Friday & Saturdays it will run from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Sunday through Thursday the show will end an hour earlier at 10:00 PM.
